Fintech platform Bidwedge announces partnership with Born Free Foundation

Bidwedge has confirmed a partnership with international wildlife charity Born Free to support its big cat rescue and conservation work.

For every transaction via the Bidwedge platform, the company will make a donation to Born Free. In addition, users can opt to donate their leftover foreign currency direct to the charity via Bidwedge.

Bidwedge is an online platform that makes it easy to change your left-over cash currency back into Sterling – at great rates for even the smallest amounts. Simply enter the amount, hit ‘show me the money’, post the cash and watch the Sterling appear in your bank account. It’s easy to do – and every transaction is insured.

All the money donated by Bidwedge and its customers will go to support Born Free’s big cat sanctuaries at Shamwari Private Game Reserve in South Africa: https://www.bornfree.org.uk/shamwari-big-cat-rescue-sanctuary

Born Free was founded in 1984 by Bill Travers and Virginia McKenna, who starred in the movie classic Born Free, together with their eldest son, Will. The charity works tirelessly to ensure that all wild animals, whether living in captivity or in the wild, are treated with compassion and respect and are able to live their lives according to their needs. Born Free opposes the exploitation of wild animals in captivity and campaigns to keep wildlife in the wild.

“The whole team is cat crazy here at Bidwedge so Born Free is the perfect partner. We’re big fans of their work and are really excited to support the sanctuaries at Shamwari. I have two rescue cats, Frank and Colin, and they’ve given my family and me so much pleasure – so I hope Bidwedge’s donations will help provide the love and care the rescued leopards and lions so deserve.” said Bidwedge’s founder Shon Alam.

“As a traveller myself I am always wondering, when I come home, what to do with all those little bits of leftover foreign currency. So, I love that Bidwedge is specially designed for those small amounts which otherwise end up in the back of a drawer. Allowing people to donate this leftover money direct to Born Free will help us care for the lions and leopards at our Shamwari sanctuaries. These beautiful big cats have been rescued from terrible conditions including tiny cages, circuses and even a lion breeding farm. Thanks to Bidwedge, your unused foreign currency can give them the new life they deserve!” said Will Travers OBE, Executive President of Born Free
