Holistic fitness and wellbeing festival returns to Canary Wharf

HIIT it off with Canary Wharf this summer, as the Estate once again transforms into a wellbeing wonderland with the launch of Strong Island 2.0. With the latest in wellness for the mind, body and soul, the festival offers Londoners a unique selection of aspirational classes, holistic practices, and products for the rest of the year – with many offering fitness classes free of charge throughout July.

Wellness, mental health, and wellbeing should be a habit that individuals working with businesses as well as businesses themselves need in everyday life. Whether that means taking up yoga, using some of the wellness supplements that Vibes CBD have on offer, or trying wellness tech like a FitBEAT, there’s many ways in which Londoners can improve their physical and spiritual wellbeing.

Cross country cycling might be a healthful way to increase one’s cardio fitness/physical wellbeing. And what better way to begin with than with an ebike ride? It might not only relieve pressure and strain on your knees and thighs, but it may also aid in weight loss and muscle building all at the same time.

Curated by Carli Wheatley, wellbeing supremo, Strong Island 2.0 aims to inspire a new approach to working out and has already kicked off June with a sell-out Naked Body workout and a series of Revolution Ride spin classes.

And next month looks to be no different. July will deliver a stellar line-up of serious shape cutting classes – from voguing whilst yoga-ing, to seriously active choreographed grooving. Full details are below:

Strike a pose (every Tuesday in July)

Next month will see VOGA classes from House of Voga takeover Crossrail Place Roof Garden. The haute couture of fitness, VOGA fuses dance moves that imitate poses from a catwalk, or ‘voguing’, with the traditional art of yoga.

VOGA’s eloquent style of intricately executed moves and poses helps increase flexibility, fitness and serotonin levels throughout the session. This physical combination of fitness and fashion is set to an 80’s House beat and is fittingly inspired by Madonna’s hit single ‘VOGUE… Strike a Pose’.

Pulse-racing, roof-raising (23 and 30 July)

For Londoners who want to move with more vigour, At Your Beat (AYB) hosts a set of classes focussing on energy levels, celebration of individuality and personal growth. With fitness classes such as FitBEAT and Peaches & Scream, the AYB family boosts fitness and wellness through an exciting mix of heart-accelerating intervals and choreographed dances to a variety of music genres. These specialised classes are packed with easy to follow grooves and cater for all levels of dance experience – from foundation to pro.

With a diverse range of classes set to be announced throughout the year, wellness fanatics are encouraged to check the Canary Wharf website for further updates.

Leanne Peters, Canary Wharf Group says: “We are thrilled to launch the second chapter of Strong Island at Canary Wharf. The festival was a huge success earlier this year and inspired us to return with some of the biggest names in the industry and another fantastic selection of classes, showcasing different forms of fitness.”
