Hyper Japan Celebrates 10 Years at London Olympia

The UK’s biggest Japanese cultural event, Hyper Japan, will take over the iconic London Olympia venue for the 10th time, offering its heady mix of contemporary and traditional Japanese culture and cuisine over three jam-packed, fun-filled days from 12th to 14th July 2019.

Hyper Japan is a truly unique event offering fun for the whole family, with something for everyone no matter what their age or passion. Featuring well-known performers, exhibitors and creative workshops, Hyper Japan is the ultimate event for certified Japanophiles and those new to Japanese culture alike. Drawing inspiration from traditional as well as futuristic Japan, it introduces both new and established trends in Japan’s music, food, drink, fashion, technology and Kawaii (cute) scenes – some exhibitors even manage to combine both.

J-style enthusiasts can enjoy the HYPER Kawaii area, which offers a wide selection of clothes, makeup, wigs and accessories hailing either from Japan or from local UK designers inspired by Japanese aesthetics. Guests can browse the many fashion stalls and pick out a new Japanese look for their summer wardrobe.

Hyper Japan will feature the ever-popular EAT-JAPAN area for those in search of authentic Japanese taste sensations. A varied selection of stalls will offer hot and cold foods including ramen, yaki soba, katsu curry, Japanese sweets and authentic tea. Guests can pre-book tickets to enjoy the Ramen Experience or the Sake Tasting which take place across all three days.

At Hyper Japan 2019, diverse artisans, practitioners and stallholders give visitors a glimpse into these long-established traditions and cutting-edge innovations, whilst also introducing exciting products and performances which utilise the best of both. Visitors who wish to learn more about Japanese culture should visit the HYPER Live! Stage, the HYPER Theatre, the J-Culture ShowcaseJ-Culture Activity workshops, and the “ASAKUSA” Culture Zone.

Hyper Japan is organised jointly by Inside Japan, Ichiba, JPU Records, MIO sake and Sozai Cooking School with support from the Embassy of Japan and the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO). JNTO will be on hand to offer travel information and suggested trip itineraries.
