Cleaning applications increased more than 50 per cent in December 2018 from the previous year, with a surge job-seekers inspired by social media star Mrs Hinch, who’s cleaning hacks charmed the nation in summer 2018.
Moving into the new year, Brits binging on Netflix were clearly captivated by the Kondo-effect. Following the launch of the streaming service’s viral documentary Tidying up with Marie Kondo in January 2019Job Today recorded a 42% increase in cleaning-based applications compared to January 2018.
It seems employers are also getting in on the hype around hygiene. The number of cleaning roles available has increased by over 40 per cent across the past two months. Companies are now going out of their way to find talent, including more information on themselves, their job roles, and disclosing salaries to cut through the competition and attract spotless CVs.
