London College of Communication, UAL will host their online event ‘The Decolonising Lens’ this Thursday from 16:30 -17:30. This event comes as part of a celebration of the most exciting new names in design, media and screen, as hosted by London College of Communication, located in Elephant & Castle, in their Graduate Showcase series.

In the first instalment of the FREE web series, ‘The Decolonising Lens’, executive director of the photographic arts charity Autograph ABP and writer and curator, Mark Sealy will be joined by guests to discuss the Decolonial as a concept and methodology through the lens of photography, media and history.

The speakers Professor Gary Younge, former columnist and editor-at-large for the Guardian and Professor Carol Tuolloch writer, curator and educator specialising in dress and black identities will discuss delinking and unhinging stereotypes, as well as challenging the photographic canon and dominant ideology of Western history. They will also address what it might mean to work against the grain of dominant narratives.
