On Tuesday 26 June, the Met joined the rest of the UK in celebrating Armed Forces Week, an annual event that recognises the contribution Reservists and Cadet Adult Instructors make to their organisation and the Armed Forces.

The annual campaign that runs annually, gives everyone the opportunity to show their support for the men and women of the Armed Forces past and present, including currently serving troops, Service families, Reservists, Veterans and Cadets.

Similar events have been taking place across the UK, enabling people to come out and show their support, and giving a much-valued morale boost for Armed Forces personnel and their families.

To recognise the Met being awarded the prestigious MOD Gold Employers Recognition Award, for support to Reservists, the event started with Assistant Commissioner Martin Hewitt QPM, signing a new Armed Forces Covenant, with Brigadier Gerhard Wheeler CBE representing the MOD.

Also present were a selection of Met Reservists and Cadet Adult Instructors, together with senior officers from the British Transport and City of London Police, and some of their Reservists who the Met has been mentoring in terms of how best to support them.
