New Research Reveals The UK’s Adrenaline Capitals

– Woking takes the top spot as it’s home to 20,232 adrenaline junkies
– Watford, Wigan, Crawley, Luton and Maidstone all make the top 10
– Karting, paintball and quad biking named top three activities across the UK from the new data

New research from leading adventure specialists Geronigo has revealed the Adrenaline Capitals across the UK. The research analysed over 1 million activity bookings at nearly 2000 UK locations and cross referenced this with population data to discover which towns and cities had the highest ratio of adrenaline junkies within them.

Woking has been named as the adrenaline capital of the UK, with the highest concentration of adrenaline-seekers. Data showed that 1 in 5.2 residents have taken part in an extreme activity at some point, so with a total population of 105,367 that equates to 20,232 adrenaline junkies living in Woking alone.

This was closely followed by Watford, Crawley, Maidstone and Basildon. The data reveals there are two main areas where the top adrenaline hubs are located, one being the Greater London area, and the other being the Northwest of England. Quad biking tended to be much more popular in the north of the country, with more southerners favouring laser tag.

Paintball was by far the UK’s most popular activity, featuring as the top activity of choice for 19 of the top 20 towns. Paintball is a competitive team shooting sport in which players eliminate opponents from play by hitting them with paint-filled capsules that break upon impact. At a more recreational level, players often hire basic equipment from paintball centres. However, there are professional paintball leagues and so as players start to become more serious about their paintballing, they often buy their own equipment. This means they can get upgraded paintball tanks, hoppers and guns, amongst other things. By investing in their own equipment, these players can modify their gear so that they have the best available, effectively making them better players. Whilst playing, you are required to wear a paintball mask, a padded combat suit and protective body armour at the very least. It’s not a dangerous sport as long as you protect yourself from the bruising that would occur if you were to not wear such protective layers, and as long as you don’t aim for any particularly vulnerable areas of your opponent’s body when shooting, such as their face. If this sounds good to you, take a look at paintballgunguides.com and get yourself some kit so that you can start up this fun hobby yourself with a few friends. After paintball, karting and quad biking are the most popular activity for Brits.

Bernie Janes, CEO of Geronigo said, “It gives me great joy to see that as many as 1 in 5 people are taking part in adrenaline-fuelled activities in certain locations across the UK. Today there is a perception that people are living a digital life online, but clearly a large chunk of the population are keen to get out and about and share exciting experiences with friends and family.”
