Tots Take Over at Royal Opera House Dots Day

Little ones are in charge at the Royal Opera House for Dots Day (Saturday 15 June, 11.30am to 2.30pm, £5 per person) as we provide a specially curated, interactive day for our youngest fans in an enchanted building decorated with fresh flowers as part of British Flower week. Suitable for under 5’s the activities include exclusive live music performances, the return of Ballet Dots and Opera Dots classes and storytelling that will give tiny tots a first glimpse into the worlds of opera and ballet.

The day’s performances will include Rise and Fall by Page One Theatre– a work made with over 50 balloons on the theme of holding on and letting go– and an excerpt from a show Snow by Holly Noble, inspired by ballet and circus and based on the fairytale Snow White, which will transport the audience to the land of the seven dwarfs. Over the Moon, an interactive musical adventure, will give babies their first taste of musical storytelling, weaving together gentle classical music, nursery rhymes and games and The Wheels on Debussy, will provide a musical story-telling, led by classical artist Matthew Sharp and of some family-favourite tales. They’ll also be the return of the child-friendly Billy’s Band, chance encounters with Sleeping Beauty while she dreams, some storytelling and a chance to relax to soothing lullabies.

The day is jam-packed with interactive activities to get the tots moving, including a baby-wearing ballet class for parents and children led by one of The Royal Ballet dancers. In addition, the popular Ballet Dots and Opera Dots, interactive sensory ballet and opera workshops return to help our youngest fans explore these art forms in specially curated sessions.

Dots Day takes place on Saturday 15 June 2019 at the Royal Opera House, from 11.30am to 2.30pm, and costs £5 for adults and children. The event is most suitable for children aged up to five years. Tickets are available to purchase here: https://www.roh.org.uk/workshops/dots-day
