100% Optical Announces Third Wave of CPD Optical and Ophthalmology Sessions

100% Optical has announced another exciting line-up of CPD sessions in collaboration with the Association of Optometrists (AOP).

As the industry’s new CPD cycle enters its third year, visitors will have the opportunity to meet the GOC’s requirements at an early stage in 2024, consolidate and update their knowledge on key clinical topics and make career enhancing connections.

AOP member priority bookings will be available on 3rd January 2024, ABDO priority bookings will be live from 11th January, ahead of sessions becoming available for all remaining visitors on 13th January and visitors who register under the Ophthalmology badge will have access to Ophthalmology bookings from 3rd Jan. The organisers of the show will also be reserving some capacity for walk-ins during the exhibition.

Within the show’s Future Practice Hubs, visitors can find the following areas, all providing useful workshops, discussions and peer review sessions.

Sponsored by SpaMedica, and will feature an array of discussion workshops with a focus on OCT interpretation (optical coherence tomography).

Sponsored by Newmedica, over the three days this hub will showcase the following talking points ‘Intraocular Lens Choice – Weighing up the Options’, ‘Effective Communication – the Key to Unlocking Excellent Patient Experiences and Health Outcomes’ and ‘The Spice of Life – a Variety of Cases from General Ophthalmology’.

Sponsored by Alcon, this dedicated area will be home to many peer reviews covering astigmatism and the importance of contact lenses.

Earlier this year, 100% Optical announced the launch of a dedicated Ophthalmology exhibition. Attendees can also visit the Ophthalmology Hub to experience a number of opportunities to network and connect with other parts of the optical community as well as gain insight and knowledge into intuitive topics such as driving digital transformation for your glaucoma and cataract patient pathways.

Day 1 is sponsored by Birmingham Optical, where visitors can join sessions hosted by Consultant Ophthalmologists David Lockington, Andrew Walkden, Say Aun Quah and Professor Robert Scott as they discuss their special interests such as corneal disease and cataract surgery, specifically phacoemulsification.

Day 2 is sponsored by Haag Streit-UK where speakers such as Sunil Mamtora, Ophthalmologist at Bristol Eye Hospital will take the stage for a one hour session discussing the innovations in slit lamp technology and simulation in Ophthalmology. Other speakers such as David Sculfar, Consultant Optometrist from Buckinghamshire NHS Foundation Trust will go over the ways to improve refractive outcomes through biometry.

Finally day 3 is sponsored by ZEISS as they host a series of 1-hour lectures that promise to inspire the approach to data-driven healthcare.
