£83M CHIC COURTYARD SCHEME LAUNCHED IN BERMONDSEY BY GALLIARD & ACORN
Galliard Homes, in association with Acorn Property Group, have received planning permission from Southwark Council for Newhams Yard, a new £83 million (GDV) mixed-use development of luxury residences centred around a vibrant communal courtyard in Bermondsey.
The Newhams Yard scheme located at 151-157 Tower Bridge Road, accessible via Tanner Street and Bermondsey Street, will provide three striking buildings of up to ten storeys arranged to create a new public courtyard, with retail, restaurant and office amenities on the ground floor. With a focus on sweeping curves and elegant lines, the scheme’s design will maximise natural light and open-plan living for residents.
The newly consented plans provide for 86 deluxe apartments consisting of studios, one-bedroom, two-bedroom and three-bedroom homes, alongside 143 aparthotel residences. The consented plans also provide for a café, co-working space and a state-of-the-art gym. The ground floor of each building will provide retail and restaurant space, creating a new communal hub for the area and adding to the dynamic local Bermondsey community.
This is the latest joint venture for Galliard Homes and Acorn Property Group, with their other successful joint projects including; the transformation of Hope House, a Georgian Grade II Listed scheme in Bath; Trilogy, a collection of stylish apartments and penthouses on the site of a Roman temple and Design House, the redevelopment of a former design studio into apartments that have successfully sold following high demand.
Each apartment at Newhams Yard will be designed with a bright and airy design with on-trend interior design, with select apartments providing a private terrace or balcony. The aparthotel residences will be operated by The Serviced Apartment Company (SACO). The first phase of apartments is due to be complete in Q2 of 2020, and buyers can register their interest online.
Newhams Yard is located adjacent to Bermondsey Street for lively bars, restaurants and shopping. Newhams Yard is a 12 minute walk from London Bridge Station for Northern line and Jubilee line connections, as well as over ground rail connections, giving residents easy access to The City, Canary Wharf and central London. The scheme is adjacent to the picturesque St Mary Magdalen Church, a Grade II Listed building with the new apartments set to offer views of the green churchyard.
David Galman, Sales Director at Galliard Homes commented: “Galliard Homes are delighted with the decision made by Southwark Council granting planning permission for our new scheme Newhams Yard. The scheme is in a prominent position providing easy access to Tanner Street and Bermondsey Street and is immersed within the vibrant local Bermondsey community. The scheme will create a new communal hub for the local area with a variety of cafes, restaurants and retail opportunities which we anticipate will be very popular with local residents. We look forward to bringing our plans for stylish homes at Newhams Yard to life.”
Melanie Omirou, Executive Group Managing Director and Funding Director at Acorn Property Group commented: “Acorn Property Group and Galliard Homes have a strong portfolio of chic, high-quality developments in particular across South London that have proven very popular with buyers.
