Wilderness Foundation UK launch FREE nature-based therapy for those experiencing issues with their mental health

Wilderness Foundation UK, a charity helping young people reconnect to society and themselves through outdoor adventure and mentoring, are delighted to be able to offer ‘Brave Futures’, a FREE nature-based group therapy programme to help support people who have experienced grief, trauma, addictions, social isolation, anxiety and depression which has affected their mental health and wellbeing.

The 8-week programme, based in Chatham Green, aims to help serve those who need respite and the rebuilding of coping skills and resilience to reintegrate at school, work and at home.

The last decade has seen a huge shift in how we talk and think about mental health. This mindset shift has given rise to preventative and proactive mental health support. The team at Wilderness Foundation UK can identify issues before they become serious problems and believe early intervention support is vital when dealing with vulnerable people.

Jo Roberts, CEO of Wilderness Foundation UK explains, ‘We know from experience that helping one vulnerable young person find coping mechanisms to help reduce anger and violence and function better, has a big impact on their immediate and often extended family and thus the community they live in.’

The ‘Brave Futures’ programme dates start with the Adults group on Friday 16th Oct, followed by the Adolescents group on Saturday 17th Oct, both with a referral deadline of 9th October. The Children group starts early next year on Wednesday 24th February 2021 with a referral deadline of 10th February.
