DesignLSM work with Fred Sirieix on his new restaurant opening at HMP Wormwood Scrubs
DesignLSM are collaborating with Fred Sirieix on his latest charity initiative for The Right Course which seeks to transform prison staff restaurants into high street like operations / businesses with the aim of reducing re-offending and addressing the skills shortage in the hospitality sector.
The highly acclaimed hospitality design studio are working as design consultants to Fred and The Right Course team as they embark on transforming the Staff Mess at HMP Wormwood Scrubs into a fully functioning restaurant space. The newly designed space will operate as both a coffee shop and full service restaurant; run by prisoners in order to provide them with real life experience as well as to obtain new found skills in service, cooking and business.
“We want to shine a light on how to help offenders gain new skills in hospitality, helping them to rebuild their confidence and secure job opportunities upon release. DesignLSM have been a great support in helping us to achieve our vision, providing us with continual design assistance and advice on the restructure of the Staff Mess enabling us to transform it into a fully operational restaurant that will stand the test of time.” said Fred Sirieix
“Fred has always been a great friend of LSM’s and it’s been a pleasure to support him and The Right Course team with such an important initiative that will help reform offenders and reshape the future of their life’s. said Karen Taylor, Design Director at DesignLSM
The restaurant is set to open in April at HMP Wormwood with future plans for The Right Course to roll out the initiative across UK prisons.
