A leading decorating and DIY specialist is preparing to open a new store in Tooting, bringing new job opportunities to the area.

Leyland SDM will cut the ribbon on its store on 134 – 142 Tooting High Street, SW17 0RU on Monday.

The business is continuing with ambitious expansion plans despite the challenges of the pandemic.

Jonathan Jennings, Chief Executive of Leyland SDM, said: “We’re delighted to be opening this new store in Tooting, which will be great news for both trade professionals and people carrying out DIY jobs in their homes.

“We can’t wait to open the doors and show people the huge range of products Leyland SDM is known for.

“The coronavirus pandemic has been a huge challenge for the whole country. However, in line with Government guidance, we have been able to keep our stores open to serve people carrying out essential maintenance and improvement work.

“This means we have been able to continue with our programme of store openings. We opened in Acton earlier this month and have a further three new stores in addition planned across London between now and the middle of May.”

Leyland SDM has grown to become one of the most recognisable and trusted decorating and DIY brands in central London with 24 existing stores in prominent locations across the capital.

The stores stock a comprehensive range of more than 22,000 products across all departments, including paint and decorating essentials, building materials, electrical fittings, tools, plumbing equipment and ironmongery.

Some of the biggest and best-known DIY brands are available at Leyland SDM, including Farrow & Ball, Tesa, Bahco, Bosch, Purdy, Dulux Trade, Leyland Trade, Stanley, Ronseal and DEWALT.

Leyland SDM employs more than 350 people across London and is currently recruiting new colleagues to work in its new stores.

“There are no specific qualifications needed for our roles but we do look for individuals with strong customer service skills, a desire to learn about our products and show a willingness to work hard!”
