Spirit of London Auction goes live

Eleven extraordinary works inspired by London go up for grabs at auction this week after the final Next Big Thing programme is aired this Sunday evening at 8pm on London Live. The works reflect the Spirit of London from the winners of the Next Big Thing Live.

The public now have the unprecedented opportunity to acquire these unique and topical works from the extraordinary talented winners, currently having an impact in the artworld through the Next Big Thing programme.

The auction of the works capturing the Spirit of London will be live on https://nextbigthing.live/ from Monday 5th April and the auction runs for a week until Sunday 12th April 2021.

Proceeds will be split between the artists and the Kopple project. The Koppel Project is an arts charity based in central London that supports early and mid-career artists by offering subsidised, central, communal studio spaces and through an in-house exhibition programme and provide funding and logistical support for the staging of exhibitions by early career artists and curators.

Over 600 entries in Portraiture, Photography, Street Art, Sculpture, and Landscape were submitted by extraordinary and inspiring young Londoners to enter Next Big Thing Live. The winning artists were filmed for the series that has aired on London Live, as they created an original piece of work which captures the works now on sale in the auction ‘Spirit of London’ – highlighting this richly diverse and international cultural city.

The competition was open to all artists aged 17 and 30 who live, work or study in London.

The Spirit of London images will be available on Monday 5 April.

Dr James Fox, Art Historian commented: “I was staggered by the quality and diversity of the art submitted. I’m sure many of these brilliant young artists are stars in the making.”

Next Big Thing Live is presented by James Nicholls.
