Leading decorating and DIY specialist to open new Cricklewood store

A leading decorating and DIY specialist is preparing to open a new store in Cricklewood, bringing new job opportunities to the area.

Leyland SDM will cut the ribbon on its store on 255-261 Cricklewood Broadway, NW2 6NX, on Monday April 19.

The business is continuing with ambitious expansion plans despite the challenges of the pandemic.

Jonathan Jennings, Chief Executive of Leyland SDM, said: “We’re delighted to be opening this new store in Cricklewood, which will be great news for both trade professionals and people carrying out DIY jobs in their homes.

“We can’t wait to open the doors and show people the huge range of products Leyland SDM is known for.

“The coronavirus pandemic has been a huge challenge for the whole country. However, in line with government guidance, we have been able to keep our stores open to serve people carrying out essential maintenance and improvement work.

“This means we have been able to continue with our programme of store openings. We opened in Acton and Tooting last month and have a further two new stores in addition planned across London between now and the middle of May – with more to follow later in the year.”

Leyland SDM has grown to become one of the most recognisable and trusted decorating and DIY brands in central London with stores in prominent locations across the capital.

The stores stock a comprehensive range of thousands of products across all departments, including paint and decorating essentials, building materials, electrical fittings, tools, plumbing equipment and ironmongery.

Some of the biggest and best-known DIY brands are available at Leyland SDM, including Farrow & Ball, Tesa, Bahco, Bosch, Purdy, Dulux Trade, Leyland Trade, Stanley, Ronseal and DEWALT.

Leyland SDM employs more than 350 people across London and is currently recruiting new colleagues to work in its new stores.

Jonathan added: “It’s a difficult landscape for people looking for work at the moment so we’re pleased to be offering new in-store opportunities at various levels.

“There are no specific qualifications needed for our roles but we do look for individuals with strong customer service skills, a desire to learn about our products and show a willingness to work hard.”

The Cricklewood Broadway outlet has a strong history of DIY and decorating as it has most recently been a GDC Paints outlet before being acquired by Leyland SDM in July 2020.
