Greenwich partnership offers new route to UK degrees for international students

The new Oxford International London Centre (OILC) is based in a state-of-the-art teaching space in Greenwich High Road, close to the university’s Greenwich campus.

The Centre will offer both an International Foundation Diploma in Business and an International Foundation Diploma in Accounting and Finance from September 2021, with a second intake in January 2022. These will be stand-alone diplomas and are therefore different from the integrated degrees currently offered.

Validated by the University of Greenwich, the courses will enable successful students to progress to a range of degrees of their choice at UK universities. International students coming to England may find it quite daunting to be placed somewhere where they do not know the language, that is why supporting them as they do their degrees is essential in making them feel at home. They may want to know “how long does it take to learn English?” and “Can I learn English alongside my degree?” it is the universities job to answer their questions and give them the right targeted help to keep them on track.

Vice-Chancellor of the University of Greenwich, Professor Jane Harrington (pictured left), said: “Greenwich is proud to be a truly international university. Our existing partnership with Oxford International has enrolled over 1,000 students on preparatory programmes since 2018 for undergraduate and postgraduate studies here in the UK. It’s fantastic that we’re building on that work with this new centre and supporting international students to learn and thrive with us following such a challenging period.”

Lil Bremermann-Richard, Group Chief Executive Officer at Oxford International Education Group (pictured right), said: “We are genuinely excited about taking this next step in expanding on our already very successful partnership with the University of Greenwich. We have always believed that the route to success is working collaboratively to help create those strategic relationships that support continued growth and progress. The launch of this new centre and the stand-alone Foundation Diploma provides international students, who otherwise would not have been eligible, with the opportunity to progress onto the University of Greenwich degree programmes.”

The new partnership builds upon the successful work of the University of Greenwich International College (UGIC) which is run by Oxford International Education Group in partnership with the university.

UGIC offers a range of undergraduate and post-graduate degree options, giving its students full university student status from the outset, including access to university facilities and service, plus English language support.

The OILC International Foundation Diploma portfolio will expand from September 2022 and is likely to also include Engineering, Computing and Law.
