THIS JULY: Rum tastings on the beach or on board a warship

This July Black Tot Rum is marking 51 years since Black Tot Day (the day the Navy were given their final rum rations) by celebrating all things rum! We have several tastings and cocktails in bars around London and the UK. No matter where you prefer to drink your rum – we have the event for you.

Beach

Rum on a warship – Saturday 31st July 6-8pm, HMS Belfast, London

Join Black Tot head blender Oliver Chilton and HMS Belfast lead curator Rob Rumble for a dive into the history of navy rum. The two will host an hour long masterclass, allowing guests to taste rums from the different countries that would have made the final navy blend and learn all about how important the rum ration was to the British Navy. Guests will be served a special Black Tot cocktail and, most importantly, will be able to taste the actual rum that the sailors would have drunk from the flagons it was stored in once the ration was abolished in 1970. Tickets are £30 and are available here: https://www.iwm.org.uk/events/iwm-in-conversation-rum-and-the-royal-navy

As well as these London events, several bars throughout the capital, and nationwide, are serving Black Tot cocktail specials. For every cocktail purchased guests will receive a ration card, entitling them to a free tot of rum at that bar on 31st July to mark the anniversary of Black Tot Day.
