Houseplants, home offices and herringbone flooring are London’s top Instagram interior trends!
With the New Year approaching, it’s a perfect time to think about redecorating your home and incorporating some of the hottest interior trends.
Instagram continues to be one of the biggest platforms for home inspiration accounts, and by analysing Instagram data1, leading carpet retailer Tapi.co.uk compiled a list of the most popular home trends. They then surveyed people living in London to reveal which trends they already have in their homes, and most want to incorporate going forward2.
The interior trends with the most posts on Instagram in the UK over the last six months are:
Home offices (326,476)
Cottagecore (108,442)
Houseplants (25,412)
Minimalist interiors (16,115)
Vinyl flooring (11,387)
Japandi (10,074)
Neutral interiors (7,151)
Herringbone flooring (4,153)
Sustainable interiors (3,922)
Stair runners (3,860)
With the nation adapting to a flexible way of working, it’s no surprise that home offices are the most posted-about interior trend in the UK, at over 326,000!
Cottagecore styling follows behind at over 108,000, while the ever-popular houseplants stand in third place with over 25,000 posts on Instagram.
So, what about those living in London?
Surveying the city on the top Instagram trends, the five that people in London already have in their homes, are:
Houseplants (43%)
Home office (36%)
Vinyl flooring (30%)
Statement rug (28%)
Neutral/earthy interiors (27%)
Not only did houseplants have the third-highest ranking of posts on Instagram but they are the most popular interior trend that Londoners are looking to incorporate in their homes – proving them to be the city’s top Instagram interior trend!
Alternatively, the top five Insta trends that people in London most want in their homes, are:
Home office (31%)
Neutral/earthy interiors (27%)
Houseplants (25%)
Statement rug (24%)
Herringbone flooring (23%)
What’s interesting to see is that while home offices, houseplants, statement rugs, and neutral and earthy interiors remain top trends that Londoners have and continue to lust after in their homes, people living in London are beginning to prefer Herringbone flooring over vinyl flooring, with 23% looking to incorporate this top flooring trend in their homes.
Summarising the research, Johanna Constantinou, Brand and Communications Director at Tapi.co.uk continues, “Many people look to Instagram for home inspiration, and with this campaign, we wanted to see the top most-posted about interior trends in the UK. We also wanted to see how many of these trends Londoners most wanted to incorporate in their own homes, and it’s interesting to see the results! Hopefully, this inspires anyone to freshen up their homes for the new year.”
