SUMMER STARTS NOW: ROOF EAST IS BACK AND THIS YEAR IT’S BETTER THAN EVER
Grab your sunnies, because summer officially begins on 14th April, with the reopening of Roof East – arguably London’s best rooftop bar. Yes that’s right, everyone’s favourite giant adult playground is back and this year it’s bigger and better than ever. With brilliant new games, not one but four new mouthwatering food vendors and sundowners on tap, Roof East is the place to gather your mates and soak up the vibes in the sunshine.
Boasting 30,000 square feet of summer vibes, epic sunsets and an electric atmosphere, Roof East is a one way ticket to sky high fun. And what’s more fun than karaoke? You guessed it – Carpark Karaoke. That’s right – the team at Roof East have given standard karaoke a revamp, so grab your mates, jump into the seats of the new Carpark Karaoke cab and sing to your heart’s content. All those traffic jam rehearsals have led to this moment.
But it wouldn’t be the ultimate playground, without the amazing selection of games Roof East is famous for. Roof East favourites like Sluggers batting cages, Birdies crazy golf, and Bowls are all back for another year, and there is also a new kid in town – Arrows. Grab a bow and arrow, and aim for the bullseye, because our new archery game is the perfect way to impress your pals with your agility & precision. The winner scores the most points… loser buys the next round.
Other favourites coming back include Ping Pong, Cornhole – where the aim is to get bean bags into a hole, Beat the Bar – where you will test your endurance and upper body strength by seeing who can hold onto the Roof East Hang Bar for the longest time, and last but not least everyone’s favourite… Jenga.
After you’ve worked up an appetite singing your heart out and hitting a bullseye, head over to one of Roof East’s unmissable food vendors to sample the delights on offer. Head to Naughty Burger, a new venture from the people behind Cheeky Burger for mouth-watering beef, chicken and plant-based burgers. Inspired by Californian burger joints, you can expect a tasty new menu complete with delicious house sauces and sides – plus, 50% of their menu is vegan, meaning there’s something for everyone.
That’s not all. Guests are in for a treat with the brand new Raastawala, the family-run Kolkata Kati Roll vendor with a mouth watering menu straight from the streets of Kolkata which includes garlic naan wraps loaded with your choice of fillings, salads and award winning sauces, masala fries and curry fried chicken – it’s your one stop shop for a taste of Indian street food.
There’s also the chance to get your chops around a Pide (or Pea-deh) from new vendor Piddaji – boat shaped flatbreads from Turkey cooked in a wood burning oven, plus Lahmacun Wraps – a delicious combination of minced meat, peppers, tomato, onion and parsley, cooked on a thin dough in the wood burning oven, wrapped up with a yoghurt mint garlic sauce, chilli and mixed salad.
No meal would be complete without dessert, which is why this year Roof East is welcoming its first ever dessert vendor in the form of female owned Treats Club. Those with a sweet tooth can get their fill with the white chocolate Kinder & Oreo S’mores Donut Sundae, Biscoff Cookie Donut Bites, ice cream and much more. Plus, with the owner Lungi Mhlanga having been featured in Forbes 30 Under 30, you know you’re in safe hands.
Those feeling parched after all the fun and games can rock up to the bar and enjoy a whole range of drinks including wine, craft beers, soft drinks and mocktails alongside a specially crafted cocktail menu.
Get in the summer spirit with the Strawberries and Cream, which combines lashings of Absolut vodka, wild raspberry liquor, fresh English strawberries, citrus and cranberry topped Soda and strawberry dust for a delicious take on strawberries and cream. Feeling fancy? Opt for an English Garden Party, a blend of Gin, Elderflower, Lemon and Pressed Apple. Or when the heat rises, reach for a cooling Boozy Iced Coffee, a mix of Absolute Vanilla Vodka, Coffee liquor and espresso lengthened with oat milk.
Also new to the roof this year, are the Cabanas, inspired by the holiday memories of warmer climates and decorated in Roof East’s colourful upbeat style. They fit between 8 and 19 people and can be pre-booked for birthday parties or fabulous get-togethers with your mates. The Dugout, Summer House and Pavilion areas will return to the Roof this year – perfect for bigger parties or after work get-togethers.
Throughout the summer, Roof East will also be hosting regular nights and events, so make sure to keep your eyes peeled for updates. From London’s No.1 Sip and Paint event, where guests can get their creative juices flowing with paintbrush in one hand, drink in the other, to the prize-laden Top of the Block Quiz Night taking place every first Tuesday of the month. The famous Jenga competition will also be returning, and there will be a very special event for the Platinum Jubilee.
For those of you who like to chill, in May yoga will be returning to the roof every Saturday morning with Nadine Sharkey of Animo Yoga.
Choose Love is Roof East’s charity partner this year. Guests will be able to make an optional donation at payment, and there will also be a special cocktail where 50p from each sale will be donated to the charity.
