SPONTANEI-TEAS: CARR'S OFFER DELIVEROO PICNICS AS 48% OF BRITS SEARCH FOR MORE SPONTANEOUS MOMENTS - London TV

SPONTANEI-TEAS: CARR’S OFFER DELIVEROO PICNICS AS 48% OF BRITS SEARCH FOR MORE SPONTANEOUS MOMENTS

Brits are looking for more exciting and spontaneous moments to break up their daily routines, especially following lockdowns. New research from Carr’s reveals that almost half of Brits (49%) would like more excitement in their life to break up the daily grind, yet almost two fifths (38%) admit they are terrible at making plans ‘off the cuff’.

To give people across the UK everything they need to enjoy more spontaneous moments of happiness with friends, Carr’s has partnered with Deliveroo to launch a range of on-demand ‘spontanei-tea’ picnics available to order via the Deliveroo app.

With a lack of opportunities to be spontaneous over the past two years, the research, which polled 2,000 people in the UK, reveals that almost half of Brits (48%) wish they acted more spontaneously and that two fifths (43%) are looking to inject a greater sense of adventure into their lives, with two fifths agreeing that acting spontaneously is a good way to keep life exciting (41%) and that it makes them happy (32%).

In spite of this, the research found that most Brits only do something spontaneous five times a month. A third of people (34%) said this was due to being stuck in a set routine or stressed at the thought of catching up with friends with little notice, with a fifth (21%) admitting they are just too lazy to be unpredictable in their daily routine or are too busy (19%). Almost two fifths (39%) of people who are less spontaneous after the pandemic state this due to getting used to being at home.

With more Brits looking to boost their spontaneity in day-to-day life, yet feeling that hosting without notice makes them feel unprepared (37%) anxious (36%) and pressured (35%), Carr’s has partnered with Deliveroo to create a run of limited-edition ‘spontanei-tea’ picnics to remove any need for pre-planning when it comes to making off-the-cuff plans.

Clinical psychologist and advocate for spontaneity Linda Blair explains why allowing for spontaneous moments are so good for your wellbeing and why sharing them over delicious food with friends will greatly increase the benefits. Linda Blair commented: “Being spontaneous requires you to focus on how you’re feeling right now, to experience the present moment rather than trying to plan your future or rehash your past. Research has shown that focusing on the present moment relieves all sorts of mental distress including anxiety and low mood, and creates a sense of wellbeing and calm. This feeling can be magnified when sharing a meal as studies have proved that people who eat with others are happier, feel more satisfied with their lives, and are more likely than others to enjoy a wide and satisfying social network.”

Leighton Wall, Marketing Director, pladis UKI added; “Doing something impulsive can bring some much-needed refreshment to your daily routine. We can see just how little people are letting their hair down and going with the flow. That’s why we’re delighted to be partnering with Deliveroo to bring Carr’s lovers these limited-edition picnics, helping people connect over food for more spontaneous moments of happiness.”

Minco De Boer, Global Director of Media and E-commerce at Deliveroo said: “Picnics have been a British summer ritual for decades, and rightly so, but we appreciate a top class picnic with all of the trimmings takes some organisation if you want to do it right. These Carr’s picnic hampers available on Deliveroo mean you can focus on the when, where and who, while we deliver all of the goods straight to you.”

The people we associate with also impacts how spontaneous we are, with almost two thirds (65%) thinking that the people around you, such as friends or family, can help influence a more unconstrained attitude to life, with over a third (35%) stating they would act more impetuously if their partner did the same.

The picnic hampers will be available to order from a dedicated ‘Carr’s Spontanei-tea Picnic Store’ on the Deliveroo website and app. 100 hampers will be available for one day in each of the three Deliveroo Editions locations: Battersea York Road, London (21st July), Manchester (22nd July) and Cambridge (23rd July). The picnic hamper will be priced at £5.00 with free delivery and includes all the items for the perfect spontaneous catch up with a friend, including:
