Livat Hammersmith and West Central London Fixers have partnered together to run free, monthly electronic repair sessions for the Hammersmith community.

West Central London Fixers is a community-powered organisation which brings together volunteer repairers and the community to fix their electronics for free, with a view to nurture repair culture in the community, rather than throwing away electronics, to eliminate waste. E-waste is one of the fastest growing wastes in the UK, with most of us not knowing where our disused electronics end up.

West Central London Fixers will be bringing together volunteer repairers and the local community to fix their electronics for free at Livat Hammersmith every *month for the next year.

Natalia Petalina, Meeting Place Manager at Livat Hammersmith commented: “At Livat, we’re committed to creating meeting places that are truly at the heart of the community and are always looking for ways to support residents of Hammersmith and beyond. We’re delighted to be helping West London Central Fixers reach more people by providing a permanent space to host their monthly workshops – which we hope will benefit local people not only by offering free repairs, but by encouraging a more environmentally-conscious approach to the repair and replacement of households items.”

Our Electronic Repair Sessions will help residents of Hammersmith wake up to this issue, and help minimise their e-waste. Livat Hammersmith first opened at the beginning of this year, bringing a little taste of Sweden to Hammersmith. Now, having been open for over six months, the new meeting place has found its place in the local community. Recent openings include the Library of Things – a community-powered social enterprise that helps people save money and reduce waste by affordably renting out useful items like drills, sound systems and sewing machines.
