Pizza named the UK’s most popular takeaway of 2022 so far with 6.07pm dubbed as Pizza O’clock!
The nation is still going mad for a low-cost takeaway with Foodhub reporting a +3.8% growth in 2022, according to new data released today, whereas competitor Just Eat recorded a -7% decrease in orders.
The new data from Foodhub, one of the UK’s leading food ordering apps that is on average 15% cheaper than competitors, demonstrates our love for value delivered dishes shows no sign in faltering any time soon and is still on the rise following its lockdown boom.
On top of this, as the cost of living continues to rise, Foodhub’s research demonstrates people are opting to stay at home in order to save money, while still spending quality time with loved ones with a local takeaway.
The data also discovered pizza has been named the UK’s most popular takeaway of the year so far, as almost one in five Brits (16%) admitted that the cheesy treat is their go-to takeaway.
And Pizza O’clock – the most common time for Brits to order pizza takeaway in the UK during 2022 – is officially 6.07pm on a Thursday night, meaning at this period customers may be waiting longer than usual. However, thanks to Foodhub’s pre-ordering tool, customers can place their order in advance leading to less time waiting and more time eating!
To celebrate the love of grub, Foodhub are currently running a frightfully good giveaway, whereby any customer who has ordered five times or more throughout September will be entered into a draw to win 4x tickets to Thorpe Park’s Fright Night on the 29th October, which includes a one-night stay in a close-by hotel.
Customers will be able to order from a range of local restaurant and takeaway suppliers, with no minimum order value, meaning whether they fancy foodie feast or a delicious dessert their order will be counted towards the competition.
Emma Stockman, a spokesperson for Foodhub, said: “In a narrowly fought race, it is interesting to see pizza named the number one takeaway choice of the nation so far, after the cheesy treat saw a +15% increase in orders YoY. However, with another four months to go, we can’t wait to see what cuisine finishes in top spot as the year draws to a close.
“Here at Foodhub, we run a no-commission based model, making us on average 15% cheaper than our competitors, so not only are we cost effective for the local takeaways/restaurants themselves, but we’re also cost effective for the consumer.”
