Dulwich based body builder continues to inspire the fitness community

A personal trainer at Dulwich Leisure Centre, managed by Everyone Active on behalf of Southwark Council, has once again achieved 1st and 3rd place in height and age categories (5ft 2 and 40+) at the 2 Bros Pro bodybuilding event, ‘JT Grand Prix’, in Maidenhead last month.

Kerry Ann Haywood was made homeless at just 16 years old. After a tough few years, she was determined to stay positive and change her life. Kerry Ann soon discovered a new passion for fitness and entered the industry initially in her mid 20’s. In 2011 she began working as a fitness instructor at Dulwich Leisure Centre. She went on to qualify as a PT and started her business in 2014.

Three years ago in 2019, Kerry Ann took to her first body building competition – a sport she always debated taking part in but never felt ready to before. Successfully placing in both her categories and coming away with four trophies in a further competition at the end of the year, Kerry Ann was determined to up her game and continue pushing herself.

Last September she successfully placed in the IFBB natural’s regional qualifier in Maidenhead, which lead her to keep pushing towards her goals.

She commented: “I have faced a lot of challenges in life, but I think it’s really important to stay strong. I love training, I’ve got a deep passion for body building and I find it’s a great way to channel my creativity.

“I’m now focused on building my confidence further, improving stage presence and posing, and also building up my bikini profile. I really want to end the year on a high which should help me prepare for next year’s IFBB Pro Qualifier.”

She hopes to continue inspiring others with a similar story to keep going and achieve anything they can set their mind to.
