London Councils has welcomed the Prime Minister’s speech to the National Housing Federation, in which she reiterated her commitment to fixing ‘our broken housing system’.

Cllr Darren Rodwell, London Councils’ Executive Member for Housing and Planning, said: “The announcement of £2bn of extra funding for housing associations is certainly welcome, but there is much more the government could do.

“Addressing the worsening housing crisis and the rising rates of homelessness in the capital means empowering boroughs to build homes on a much bigger scale. ”
