Londoners are the biggest Halloween spenders in the UK, with the average local set to spend £150 on the celebration this year

New data has found that Londoners are, by far, the biggest spenders when it comes to Halloween – and they’re set to fork out £149.90 on the holiday this year.

Little-Loans.com commissioned a survey of 2,000 nationally representative Brits who celebrate Halloween to find out how much the UK will be spending on costumes, decor and events in 2022.

Using the findings, they were able to rank areas of the UK based on their level of expenditure and crown the region with the biggest Halloween spenders.

Where in the UK spends the most money on Halloween?

The survey data has revealed that Londoners are BY FAR the most outlandish when it comes to Halloween spending.

Based on these findings, we can predict that the average Brit will spend £95.70 on ‘Halloween’ this October, whereas the average London resident is looking at a hefty £149.90 per person.

On the contrary, East Anglians ranked as the thriftiest Halloween fans, who are expected to pay just £50 for the whole shebang (events, costume and decorations) – that’s almost HALF of the national average.

The findings revealed that Londoners are willing to spend the most money on Halloween events, such as parties, cinema screenings and horror nights. When asked to predict how much they’ll fork out for these types of activities this year, the estimated cost averaged £59.70 per person. Clearly, Halloween doesn’t come cheap in London!

The national average spending on Halloween outings was uncovered to be £35.60, a whole £24 less than that of Londoners.

How much will the average Londoner spend on their Halloween costume this year?

According to the data, the second biggest Halloween spend in London is the costume, whether it’s a DIY creation or a store-bought number. Whereas on average, Brits will splash £31.30 on their outfit, Londoners are willing to splash even more with the average expense coming out as £46.10.

How much will the average Londoner spend on Halloween decorations this year?

After buying tickets for Halloween events and purchasing their costume, Halloween decorations are the lowest on the list in terms of how much Londoners are willing to spend.

The survey data uncovered that Halloween decorations will cost the average London resident £44.10 for those looking to transform their home into a haunted house. Again, this is significantly higher than the national average of £28.30.
