Brixton Village is proud to announce the ‘The Night Gallery’, a dynamic cultural event that showcases the palpable creativity that exists at the heart of the Brixton community. The Night Gallery exists to champion expression, with ambitions to support South London artists throughout the rest of the year.

From 6pm – 10pm, Brixton Village will invite seven talented artists and performers for an unforgettable evening of art, dance and spoken word performance, as the inaugural programme in a series of events that will shape the creative scene in 2023 at the covered markets.

Curated by The Brixton Project with sponsorship from Brixton Brewery, The Night Gallery lands day one of the London Festival of Architecture, a festival aimed to engage discourse, prompt new ideas and nurture talent.

Throughout the Village, the creatives, including spoken word artists Lateshia Howell, Ehireme ‘Native’ Omoaka, Binta Yade, Remmel and Maia Ardalla, will be sharing exclusively commissioned work that responds to the theme of this year’s festival: ‘In Common.’

Dancer Valerie Ebuwa will perform, moving through the avenues in an expressive conversation with the historic architecture of the market, the black female body and the audience.

Meanwhile, various shops within Brixton Village will be transformed into never-seen-before art installations. Brixton Brewery, a regular creative partner for Brixton and South London Artists, is the official sponsor of The Night Gallery and will continue this by offering mentoring opportunities beyond these events for all artists participating in this powerful series.
