Three London Children Crowned Champions After Winning Competition to See Their Football Kit Designs Brought To Life For Their Clubs/Teams
Today, London based self-storage company Attic Self Storage has presented three of the Capital’s talented children with their very own personalised football kits for their team, after they were selected as the winners of the company’s Strike-ing Kits competition.
The competition, which kicked off just before the school summer holidays, invited London’s young football enthusiasts to design their own football kits to be in with a chance to see their design brought to life and created for their own team.
Beckton local Tahmid from Ellen Wilkinson Primary School, Kester from Walthamstow’s Frederick Bremer FC and Ted from Newington Green Primary School in Hackney, were crowned winners after wowing the competition’s judging panel with their creative designs.
Each of the three winners chose to design football kits that reflected elements and characteristics of their team or school.
Tahmid from Ellen Wilkinson School “The colours yellow and blue are used because they are our school’s two main colours, and the pentagons represent our five core values. I added some bendy lines across the shirt to make it look unique and the stripes on both sides of the shirt and shorts give it a real football feel.”
Kester from Frederick Bremer FC “This is a flashy kit with tiger stripes that show off our talent. My school’s football team won the Waltham Forest Borough Cup, so we’re going into the top league in September. I have picked opposite colours plus white so it’s eye-catching when we play, because we like to stand out. My kit is not boring or bland, it’s exciting, like our style of football!”
Ted from Newington Green Primary School “I had the idea to get the colours from the Albanian National football team. Also, I used the ideas from my football club by adding some of their design items. The spikes are a symbol of the team aiming higher and achieving more.”
The judging panel for the competition included London footballing star and Premiere League goalkeeper Lawrence Vigouroux (Burnley FC), who was excited to support the initiative after experiencing the power of team kits whilst growing up. Talking about the importance of team kits, Lawrence says: “I have always felt passionately that kits are so important to bring teams together and motivate children to get into playing football. For me, a team kit is more than just fabric; it’s the embodiment of our team spirit and our shared journey on the pitch.”
Lawrence adds: “It was amazing to see so many creative designs being entered into the competition, and it was extremely hard to pick the top three. You could see that each design had a lot of thought and effort behind it, and I’m sure the children who entered will have bright futures ahead as players or kit designers!”
The designs were also judged by Jaz Virgo (Junior Graphic and Print Designer at Gymshark), Ash Rahman (CEO of Pro Touch Soccer Academy) and Sophie Bagnall (Marketing Director at Attic Self Storage).
The competition was launched by Attic Self Storage to give back to the community they operate in. Sophie Bagnall, Marketing Director at Attic says: “At Attic Self Storage, we constantly look for ways to put community at the heart of our business. We were blown away with the engagement in the competition and are so pleased to see the winners with their final printed designs. We can’t wait to see them out on the pitch!”
