Scaredy Cats, Spooky Pups & Pink Pooches – Amazon Reveals Most Popular Trends in the Lead Up to Halloween

The survey of 2,000 British pet owners reveals that pets are now pivotal to the nation’s Halloween celebrations, with Halloween pet costume orders tripling on Amazon this year.

According to the findings, two-thirds (67%) of animal owners plan to dress up their furry companions this Halloween. And over half (54%) of those surveyed admitted they’d spend more time and money on Halloween costumes for their pets than themselves.

The study also reveals that film and TV-themed costumes have moved up the ranks as an emerging pet trend, alongside the spooky classics, with Barbie and Ken making it into the top 10. Further filmatic nods include classics such as Beetlejuice, The Batman and the iconic, Harry Potter.

The top 10 most popular pet costumes according to Brits:

Vampire
Wizard or witch
Pumpkin
Ghost
Beetlejuice
Barbie
Bat wings
Hocus Pocus – A Sanderson Sister
Spider
Cowboy Ken

Amazon has released a series of photos showing the nation’s favourite pets in some of this year’s most popular costumes, including a Maltese and Dachshund pair as Barbie and Ken, and a Bengal cat in a Harry Potter cloak.

We’re also a nation of social sharers with six in 10 (60%) admitting to snapping their dressed-up pets for social media. And whilst pet owners aged 18 to 24 are most likely to dress their pets this Halloween, 25-34-year-olds are the most likely to co-ordinate their own outfits with their pets.
