LOCAL CARE HOME RESIDENTS CELEBRATE EID

Barchester’s Hugh Myddelton House care home, in Southgate celebrated the Islamic holiday Eid al-Fitr, which took place on Tuesday 9th and Wednesday 10th April.

Eid al-Fitr means the feast of the breaking of the fast and traditionally begins the day after the sighting of the new crescent moon which marks the end of Ramadan and the start of the month of Shawwal, the tenth month of the Islamic Hijri calendar.

General Manager, Jade Shea commented “Eid is such an important event in the Islamic calendar, we all enjoyed watching Eid celebrations around the world and taking part in the ceremonies at our local Mosque.

Hugh Myddelton house Team would love to give our biggest appreciation to Rakshi Salman one of our brilliant chef who did above and beyond to celebrate this special day with us. With her Perseverance in putting herself forward and said “ I will bring some food and give my time to the residents for them to be able to celebrate this special Traditional day for our Muslim culture, Leave it with me”, saying this with care and pride.

Dega Adam resident at Hugh Myddelton House said: “It was really interesting to find out all about Eid and how it is celebrated. We have people of all religions here and it is wonderful to be able to take part in different religious celebrations.”
