Yoo Capital and Places for People partner on proposals to deliver hundreds of affordable homes at Camden Film Quarter
Yoo Capital, the real estate investment firm known for transformational mixed-use developments, and Places for People, the UK’s leading social enterprise and one of the largest affordable housing providers, are pleased to announce their partnership on the proposed delivery of hundreds of new homes at Camden Film Quarter, a new film-led development in Kentish Town.
The vision for the entire scheme, announced earlier this year, aims to be an innovative and sustainable mixed-use campus which will see 50% of the total residential offering across the land owned by Yoo Capital dedicated to high-quality, affordable homes and create the infrastructure needed to support the new community.
As part of Yoo Capital’s vision to put communities, both creative and local, at the centre of its world-class ambitions for the Camden Film Quarter, partnering with Places for People will bring a first of its kind creative neighbourhood to life, enriching the surrounding area and delivering on the important local regeneration strategy of Kentish Town. Alongside providing homes for those in the local Camden area, the residential development will also draw in new residents from the creative community and surrounding areas, allowing them to benefit from the creativity and vast offering of the destination.
With over 60 years of experience delivering homes, Places for People will ensure residents are the cornerstone of the new quarter. Having redeveloped Europe’s largest listed building at Park Hill in Sheffield and created the bustling sustainable community on the former Olympic Park in EastWick +Sweetwater, in partnership with Yoo Capital both parties will deliver on the vision to create and support a thriving community at Camden Film Quarter.
Lloyd Lee, Managing Partner, Yoo Capital, said:
Our partnership with Places for People is a clear demonstration of our dedication to the needs of the community, enabling us to bring forward 50% affordable housing across the land we own in the Camden Film Quarter campus.
We are very proud to be partnering with Places for People and their extraordinarily talented team and we are excited to welcome their ideas to the Camden Film Quarter masterplan vision as we engage with local residents and stakeholders.”
