LEGENDARY BRIXTON ARTIST LORNA GEE, AKA SUTARA GAYLE QUEEN OF LOVERS ROCK, ANNOUNCES NEW SINGLE ‘CLOSET’

Lorna Gee, the legendary Queen of Lovers Rock [acting name: Sutara Gayle], has announced her latest single Closet set for release on the 23rd August on digital platforms with the video released on the 11th August, coinciding with an exclusive performance at UK BLK Pride of the track.

Closet, written on a rhythm track created by Mafia and Fluxy, is a celebration of authenticity, of embracing your true self and will be officially premiered and performed at UK BLK Pride on the 11th August, where there will be exclusive merchandise to celebrate it sold on the day.

This is her first official single since 1996. Following the success of her recent, self-penned, one woman theatre show The Legends of Them produced by Hackney Showroom for which she received multiple 5* reviews and received an Offie Award for best performer in an Off West End production 2024.

The corresponding video was filmed by Sel Noir productions reflecting the songs’ ethos of love, acceptance and pride, to end the summer on a joyful note.

Lorna Gee won BBC London Reggae artist of the year in 1985 and 1986, with her most well known songs ‘Gotta Find A Way’ and ‘Three Weeks (mi giro)’, before moving to the USA in the 1990s with hits like ‘Lef him, Nice’ and ‘Oh No Not My Baby’.

Closet is the first single ahead of her greatest hits album expected in the coming year, to be released with Mad Professor’s Ariwa Records, her longtime collaborators. Other notable recent acting appearances include Netflix’s ‘Supacell’, ‘Batman: Dark Knight’ and is currently on the West End in Mernier Chocolate Factory’s production ‘Baker’s Wife’.
