Feel-good shows at Shakespeare’s Globe this summer
Our fantastic 2023 hit The Comedy of Errors returns to the Globe this summer, opening tomorrow and playing until 27 October. And then next up our first new play in two years Princess Essex opens in September – a music-filled comedy about Princess Dinubolu, the first woman of colour to enter a UK beauty pageant…. which will transform the iconic open-air Globe Theatre into an Edwardian seaside!

The Comedy of Errors runs from 21 August – 27 October. The Summer 2023 hit returns, bringing with it the joy and chaos of Elizabethan London, transforming the Globe Theatre into a bustling dock – complete with ship masts and piers. Shakespeare’s wild comedy about rival cities, long-lost siblings and mistaken identities will be co-directed by Sean Holmes and Naeem Hayat (Burnt at the Stake, Globe).
Princess Essex

New play, Princess Essex runs from 13 September – 26 October, written by and starring Anne Odeke – an empowering comedy based on the incredible true story Princess Dinubolu, the first woman of colour to enter a beauty pageant in the UK. Set in 1908 Southend-on-Sea, Princess Dinubolu of Senegal enters a beauty contest at the iconic Kursaal, Europe’s biggest entertainment complex.
