Self Space, the UK’s leading mental health service on the highstreet is opening its doors for more in person therapy sessions with a brand new, purposely designed therapy hub in Kings Cross.

A front door and a refuge for busy Londoners, the hybrid – in-person and online provider has quickly become the fastest growing mental health service on the highstreet – delivering over 80,000 sessions since its launch in 2018.

Powered by a team of 120 qualified therapists, Self Space is built on a proactive, personalised approach to wellness which recognises the messiness of life. Founded by qualified therapists, Jodie Cariss and Chance Marshall, Self Space continues to shift the culture and conversation around mental health, taking it out from behind closed doors and putting it right on the highstreet. Importantly, it puts choice at the heart of the service, knowing that the most valuable mental healthcare experience comes when people have autonomy over their journey.

After opening its first space in Shoreditch followed by Borough and Soho, Kings Cross will see the business join over 50 other shops and restaurants in the heart of the Coal Drops Yard community, such as COS, Aesop and Earl of East, just minutes from Kings Cross and St Pancras station – further driving its mission to normalise therapy through the power of visibility, with the new location reaching a millions of potential customers in footfall per year.

Jodie Cariss, founder of Self Space and therapist of twenty years, said: “We are so driven by our mission to revolutionise the high street with accessible therapy and can’t wait to bring all that Self Space offers to more and more people. Kings Cross has long been a cultural melting pot in the city, seeing growth from its edgier days into a vibrant, creative heart that keeps the history of London alive.

“We feel totally at home with the other brands and businesses here and the high street feel of Coal Drops Yard, it feels like the right area to continue our exciting journey – furthering our hope of removing the barriers and stigma with locations and spaces all over the country that speak to prioritising mental wellbeing and helping everyone to explore the full spectrum of life and glimmers of joy.”

Witnessing supercharged growth over the last couple of years, Self Space now supports almost 16,000 clients and has delivered over 82,000 sessions since its launch, Self Space has become the UK leader in delivering accessible mental health support. This is all made possible by its diverse team of 120 qualified therapists, covering multiple modalities and16 languages between them.

Following a successful round of investment early in 2024, the Kings Cross launch marks a new trajectory for Self Space, helping to continue its goal of making therapy more visible and accessible in our daily lives. The providers offer a number of ways to access support, including individual and couples therapy, one-off MOT sessions, accessible group therapy and workshops and a soon to launch Pay-It-Forward programme.

Working with individuals and across 80 businesses, Self Space is transforming the culture around therapy and mental health, one person, and one company at a time such as Depop, Oatly, & Selfridges. The team offers one to one therapy for employees alongside expert-led workshops and mental health training enabling people to build healthy relationships and thrive at work. This includes the first-of-its-kind Mental Health Champs, providing an impactful therapist-led and written training that looks broadly at workplace culture and crisis-prevention that’s missed in Mental Health First Aid.

Chance Marshall, Founding Partner of Self Space, adds: “We’re not a plaster or a plug for workplace wellbeing and support our partners to fix the root cause of employee burnout and disengaged workforces by empowering employees and leaders in all areas of their life.

We’re proud to provide wrap-around care, from one to one therapy to talks and training -which has seen businesses reduce turnover, while developing meaningful employee benefits, showing their teams that they want to put them first. We’re excited to continue this in King’s Cross.
