Fleet Street Quarter and Class of Your Own launch October half term Out of School Club empowering kids to build a sustainable future

From 21 October-1 November, Fleet Street Quarter, in partnership with social enterprise Class of Your Own, will host an October half term Out of School Club for children and young people aged 9-14 at The Fleot. This fun learning programme aims to inspire young minds to build a greener world through real-life experience.

Running from 9am to 5pm and located at 10 New Bridge Street, ‘Class of Your Own’ half term autumn clubs are part of The Fleot a pioneering green and digital construction skills hub delivered by Community Coworking and a consortium of partner organisations.

This unique autumn half term experience is an exciting opportunity for children to learn about Built Environment careers and help the environment while gaining valuable skills. It’s never been more important when the construction industry contributes to about a third of the world’s overall waste and at least 40% of global carbon dioxide emissions.

Children will learn how to design, engineer and construct extraordinary net-zero buildings, ranging from homes to hospitality to healthcare. There’s even a ‘Centre for Our Planet’ (The COP), to teach young people about climate change. Participants will sketch, build, gain insights from professionals in the field and receive a certificate on completion.

The full four-day course costs £100 [£25 a day], and will run twice – from 21 October to 24 October and from 29 October to 1 November. The school is the perfect opportunity for aspiring architecture, engineering and construction professionals. There are only 20 spaces available each week on a first-come, first-served basis. Join us in building a better society and let’s educate the future of construction, one innovative building at a time.

There will also be a limited number of one-day activities available to book.

Closest tube and train station is Blackfriars, which is served by Thameslink trains, the District and Circle Underground lines. The Floet is a five-minute walk from the station on New Bridge Street.
