Southwark Liberal Democrats Call For End to “Procrastination” Over Bakerloo Line Extension
Southwark Liberal Democrats have reacted to the news of a feasibility study into the long awaited Bakerloo Line Extension (BLE), which was revealed on 10th
October.
They welcome the step forward, but urge an end to the “procrastination” that is holding up 20,000 homes in the Old Kent Road opportunity area.
According to promotional material for the BLE, up to 110,000 homes could be built across London should the BLE go ahead.
Commenting, Southwark Liberal Democrat Group Leader Cllr Victor Chamberlain said:
“Any step forward is welcome, but by now we know exactly what is needed to get this project moving forward – cash. It’s no surprise that Labour are continuing this procrastination.
Until Labour deliver on their promises, 20,000 homes that could be built in the Old Kent Road alone, and 110,000 homes across London are being held hostage to Labour’s indecision and delay.”
