Parmigiano Reggiano PDO and Gennaro Contaldo to attend Spirit of Christmas 2024

As part of a three-year EU co-funded campaign, Parmigiano Reggiano PDO will be appearing at the Spirit of Christmas Fair along with brand ambassador and celebrity chef Gennaro Contaldo.

From the 4th – 10th November 2024, Parmigiano Reggiano PDO will be showcasing its artisan product to guests at the Spirit of Christmas Fair taking place at Olympia, London. Visitors can expect to learn about the rich heritage and craftmanship behind Parmigiano Reggiano PDO and enjoy samples and educational advice on cooking with the cheese.

Parmigiano Reggiano PDO’s brand ambassador and renowned Italian chef Gennaro Contaldo will also be attending the fair on the 5th November, where visitors will have the chance to watch as he opens a wheel of Parmigiano Reggiano PDO. Gennaro will also be sharing five new recipes and his favourite ways to incorporate the cheese into a range of dishes.

Parmigiano Reggiano PDO is a versatile and flavourful ingredient ideal for the festive season.
When tasting the cheese, it is best chunked with a classic almond-shaped knife to enhance its characteristic graininess.

4,014,300 wheels are produced each year (more than 161,000 tons), accounting for 15.6% of Italian milk production. Made in the provinces of Parma, Reggio Emilia, Modena, Bologna to the left of the river Reno and Mantua to the right of the river Po, Parmigiano Reggiano PDO has a fully natural production, without the use of additives or preservatives. Guests can learn more about the biodiversity and area of origin at the Spirit of Christmas Fair.

In June 2024, the Consorzio del Formaggio Parmigiano Reggiano entered the second year of its three-year integrated campaign in the UK. The €3.9m campaign is co-funded by the European Union and activity is set to continue the promotion of European products with a Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) quality certification, of which Parmigiano Reggiano PDO is recognised for.
