The Montagu Kitchen
Sir Winston Churchill was renowned for his hearty appetite, so it only makes sense to bring this love of food into the celebration of his life. Throughout the month of November, foodies can indulge in a range of limited time menus and offers at Hyatt Regency London – The Churchill’s modern British restaurant, The Montagu Kitchen.
Inspired by Churchill’s long list of preferred foods, the first of the impressive offering will be an exclusive set menu featuring dishes from Georgina Landemere’s (Churchill’s very own personal chef) celebrated cookbook and the historic 1936/37 cook’s menu book from the Churchill archives. Priced at £70 per person for three-courses, diners can expect the likes of Beetroot Salad, Crab Omaha, Tournedos Rossini, Crepe Suzette and Pear Ginger.
The Montagu Kitchen will also offer a hearty Sunday brunch, offering guests the chance to enjoy a traditional English roast alongside Churchill’s favourite brunch dishes, which have similarly been chosen from Landmere’s cookbook and recipes from the Churchill archives. Notable dishes include Egg Forester, Coq au Vin, Endive Gratin and Clafoutis. As an extra touch, the venue will be transformed into a 1940s haven for the occasion featuring English-garden inspired tables with candelabras, newspapers and vintage props, theatrical table service and a 1940s vocal trio to set the tone. The Sunday brunch will be priced at £95 per person with unlimited soft drinks, £110 per person with a glass of champagne on arrival and £130 per person with a wine package.
As well as the extensive food offering, Hyatt Regency London – The Churchill will also be bringing Churchill’s legacy to life through its liquid refreshments, serving his favourite champagne, Pol Roger*, for an added Birthday sparkle with every meal.
Images of Churchill’s extravagant birthday cakes became a famed part of his character throughout the nation during his lifetime. 150 years later, the hotel will follow in this spirit, offering all those who dine at The Montagu Kitchen in November receiving a complimentary slice of fruit loaf, a sweet treat particularly adored by Sir Winston Churchill.
The Churchill Bar & Terrace
Named after the British statesman, it only makes sense to continue the celebrations into The Churchill Bar & Terrace, starting with the venue’s limited-edition winter cocktail, made to suit even the most sophisticated tastes of Prime Ministers. Crafted using a base of Hine Cognac, which was a popular serve for guests of Chartwell House, the special Churchill Cocktail will be a replica of Churchill’s favourite cake and will be unique and rich in flavour.
The venue’s outdoor space will undergo a makeover of its own, transforming into a cosy, atmospheric winter haven, in collaboration with Chartwell House, Churchill’s beloved country home in Kent. Guests can expect to step into a bygone era of elegance and charm, reminiscent of the 1920 and 1930s gardens at Chartwell, adorned with twinkling lights, vintage-inspired décor, and lush greenery, creating a nostalgic and magical setting. The terrace will also be adorned with decorative bricks, paying homage to Churchill’s passion as a brick layer, as well as striking photographs of Chartwell House in winter and copies of the Prime Minister’s most-loved artwork.
