Bestselling Author Adele Parks MBE Enriches Care Home with New Literary Treasures

Wandsworth Common Care Home has embarked on a new chapter as bestselling author, Adele Parks MBE, donates 60 of her captivating books to enrich the home’s impressive library.

The 97-bed care home features a beautiful library where residents can relax and unwind.

Parks expressed her delight in contributing to the home. She said, “It’s my absolute pleasure to donate books to Wandsworth Common Care Home and help create a varied, vibrant and tempting library for everyone who lives or visits the beautiful care home.”

“It’s always wonderful to promote reading in others. Older people in particular can benefit from feeling engaged, connected, and invigorated through reading.”

“It’s vitally important to remember that there’s no age limit on having access to the joys of reading; our thoughts, reflections, and feelings can be challenged and channelled every time we turn a page.”

Known for her popular novels such as Playing Away, The State We’re In, and If You Go Away, the British Writer has received widespread recognition for her engaging storytelling and relatable characters, solidifying her reputation as a bestselling author.

In recognition of her significant contributions to literature, she was awarded an MBE for Services to Literature in 2022.

76-year-old Chris Fry, an avid fan of Parks’ novels and resident at the luxury care home, was particularly excited about the new additions to the library.

Chris said, “I can’t wait to settle in with a new book and discuss it with my fellow residents. This is such a thoughtful and unique donation.”

Thomas Holden, Home Manager at Wandsworth Common Care Home, shared his enthusiasm for the donation.

He said, “The addition of these books significantly enhances our library. We are grateful to Adele Parks for her generous contribution, which will surely enrich the reading experience for our residents. It’s wonderful to see literature bring our community together.”

Wandsworth Common Care Home, located in London and part of Avery Healthcare, provides high-quality residential, respite, and dementia care while cultivating enriching experiences for its residents.

With Parks’ donation, the home’s library is now a vibrant hub for creativity, connection, and delightful page-turning fun.
