Better Green Living Becomes an Accredited Living Wage Employer
London-based sustainable refurbishment company, Better Green Living, has been recognised as an accredited Living Wage Employer by the Living Wage Foundation. Awarded to organisations that pay the real Living Wage in the UK, Better Green Living is within the 14% of businesses to reward its employees with a higher wage than the government’s current minimum.
The real Living Wage is the only UK wage rate which reflects the current cost-of-living climate and is paid voluntarily by 15,000 businesses in the UK. With over 460,000 employees having received a pay rise as a result of the campaign, Better Green Living has joined the movement to create a fair and equal wage for all its employees.
The commitment from Better Green Living will see the company pay their employees £13.85[1] an hour as a minimum, instead of the current National Living Wage of £11.44[2] an hour, increasing wages by more than £2,000 per year. The new Living Wage rates were announced last month, and employers are required to implement them by 1st May 2025.
Better Green Living designs and refurbishes spaces for University Estates and private schools. Offering a complete design and retrofitting service, the company work closely with university students and staff to create modern student accommodation that supports wellbeing and improves energy efficiency. Projects have included multiple renovations for Kings College London student accommodation and communal areas such as its wellness centre, study pods, and courtyard refurbishments.
Deborah Parsons, Group CEO and Sustainability and Outreach Director at Better Green Living, said: “Receiving the Living Wage Employer accreditation is a significant milestone for us as a business. The award reflects our commitment to valuing our employees’ hard work across our projects and ensures fair compensation. At Better Green Living, we believe that everyone is entitled to have a wage they can live on, and this accreditation highlights our dedication to supporting our team and setting a positive standard in our industry.”
