Local Carer Wins Award for Home Care at Great British Care Awards

Lynn Rogers, a care manager for award-winning and CQC rated ‘Outstanding’ live-in care provider The Good Care Group, has won the ‘Care Assessor, Care Planner’ award in the prestigious Great British Care Awards 2024. The win recognises Lynn’s devotion, in her working life, to the pursuit of excellence in home care and end-of-life care in the London region.

Lynn has devoted the last 38 years to the pursuit of excellence in home care. One recent example of her dedication to providing the best end-of-life care for clients was her support for “Mr. P”, who suddenly became unwell and was subsequently taken to hospital. Lynn was able to meet with hospital doctors and community teams after speaking with the client’s family to arrange his discharge. “Mr. P” then spent nine days at home, surrounded by love, and died peacefully.

During 2023, The Good Care Group supported 83% of clients who were receiving end-of-life care to fulfil their wish to die at home. This is testament to its person-centred holistic care plans which encompass the client’s social, spiritual and clinical choices, right through to their wishes around after-death care.

Lynn Rogers, care manager, said:

“I am incredibly honoured to have received this recognition for assessing and planning home care. This award reflects the incredible support from my team, as well as the trust placed in us by clients and their families.

“Providing comfort and dignity in someone’s final moments is a privilege, and I have committed my career to ensuring people’s dying wishes are fulfilled. This recognition reaffirms my commitment to ensuring compassionate and individualised care for every person we support.”

Laura Davies, Chief Operating Officer at The Good Care Group, said:

“Lynn’s commitment to understanding the needs of each client, while going above and beyond to support them, encapsulates everything we stand for at The Good Care Group.

“We are incredibly proud of Lynn’s achievements, and the positive influence she has had on the team, through her unwavering dedication. She has set a benchmark for excellence in providing quality home care and end-of-life care.”

The Good Care Group also recently secured the Home Care Employer Award in the Great British Care Awards 2024. It was highly commended for the ‘The 3Rs Award 2024’, which recognises organisations and individuals who have adopted an innovative approach to Recruitment, Retention and Recognition.
