Sticks’n’Sushi opens at Battersea Power Station
Danish-Japanese restaurant group, SticksʹnʹSushi, is now open at Battersea Power Station, bringing its signature combination of sushi and grilled sticks, coupled with beautiful design aesthetics, to this iconic riverside destination.
Located on the upper level of Electric Boulevard, a pedestrianised high street running from Battersea Park Road to the Power Station, the impressive space encapsulates minimalist Japanese and Scandinavian elegance with historic grandeur, paying tribute to the cultural context of the Grade II* listed building, but framing the unexpected.
Designed by award-winning Noma-Kyoto architects, from Denmark’s OEO Studio, a rich mix of tactile materials feature throughout, including glazed ceramic tiles which inject character to the industrial pillars, acoustic walls made from eelgrass seaweed and sawdust, and sustainable terralamps crafted from coffee bean shells and upcycled plastic. With an open plan dining room, kitchen counter, lounge and bar, and outdoor terrace, the restaurant has a sophisticated and welcoming atmosphere symbolising the renowned Japanese concept of ‘Omotenashi’ – to wholeheartedly look after every guest.
From izakaya-style bites to sushi, sashimi and sticks, take your pick from the unique, glossy visually-led menu. Kick off with delicate Hotate Kataifi scallops wrapped in fine kataifi pastry or Beef Tataki, featuring succulent beef fillet topped with miso aioli, truffle ponzu and crunchy artichoke chips. For sushi, opt for house rolls such as Aka Ebi Argentinian red shrimp, spicy gochujang, avocado, snow peas, miso aioli and trout roe, or Soft Shell crab with masago and spicy sauce.
On the grill, miso glazed black cod and lamb with garlic butter, spring onion and soy sesame are standouts and join new additions such as Momo Nanban, fried chicken thigh in sweet and sour dashi. For an immersive dining experience, the Temaki Setto invites diners to make their own hand rolls with ingredients like wagyu tartare, snow crab, crispy nori, and sushi rice.
Generous set menus cater to a range of budgets and preferences and it’s not all about fish – the Robust set menu is a carnivore’s dream with dishes like duck meatballs and beef tataki, while the Green My Day feast is plant-based paradise. Be sure to leave room for dessert with choices like the Matcha Fondant, a rich dark chocolate fondant with a molten matcha core or a creamy Vanilla Crème Brûlée with black sesame crumble.
SticksʹnʹSushi offers an exceptional range of drinks including a carefully curated selection of wines, premium spirits and Japanese teas alongside an array of sake and a variety of non-alcoholic options. Creative cocktails include the Purple Rain, an infusion of Roku gin with butterfly pea flowers, yuzu tonic and a dash of violet liqueur and a take on a classic Whisky Miso Sour, made with Toki whisky, peach liqueur shaken with miso lactic honey cordial and served with a smooth foam for a luxurious finish.
