Twixmas: Things to do at London Wetland Centre between Christmas and New Year

Banish the boredom and turn the downtime between Christmas and New Year into something special with these magical Twixmas adventures at London Wetland Centre.

Get crafty with nature’s raw materials (Every day from 22 December-5 January, excluding 26 and 27 December)

Gather your loved ones and join London Wetland Centre for its free festive family workshops, and learn how to make pine cone feeders and thank you cards from seeded paper that grows into a meadow of wildflowers – spreading joy long after the holidays.

Splash, explore and play with the little ones (27 December)

Join London Wetland Centre’s forest school-inspired Friday Froglets session with the kids and enjoy a morning of playing in nature, singalongs, storytelling, and nature arts and crafts, followed by quiet time around a fire.

Sip and paint (28 December)
Get creative at London Wetland Centre’s next watercolour workshop. Suitable for adults of all levels of experience, and set against the beautiful backdrop of the wetlands, learn tips and tricks for painting with watercolours whilst enjoying a hot tipple.

Meet otters (Every day, 11am and 2pm)
Watch London Wetland Centre’s Asian small-clawed otters Tod and Honey play and cause mischief under a waterfall. Join them for their daily feed, and learn about their loves, lives and homemaking habits.

Enjoy birding and photography (Every day)

London Wetland Centre, with its frosty landscapes and diverse bird species, is perfect for photography and nature enthusiasts. Discover American wood ducks, cranes and potentially even the rare bittern from one of the centre’s six hides every day during the Twixmas period. Or, kick off the new year with an immersive birdwatching experience by visiting the centre’s three-story Peacock Tower on 1 January 2025 to learn tips on birdwatching from one of London Wetland Centre’s experts, including how to identify different species by their plumage, calls and behaviour.
