West Wimbledon Primary School benefits from donation from local London developer
West Wimbledon Primary School has received a £1,500 donation from local developer Barratt London, who is building homes just under a mile away at its Sterling Place development. The donation has been put towards a wider school hall refurbishment, including new motorised blinds, fresh painting and decorating.
The primary school teaches pupils aged three to 11 and provides a base for children with SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) including autism and social communication needs. West Wimbledon Primary School’s newly refurbished hall will be an important part of the school day and a community facility for local events and workshops.
Rosie Williamson, Headteacher at West Wimbledon Primary School commented: “The hall is an essential part of the school day, and acts as a central communal hub for our pupils and staff. Barratt London’s donation has helped us to create a more organised and functional learning space for the children, where students and teachers can take part in assembly, physical education, staff training and more. We’re also very grateful that the refreshed school hall can now provide a location for our breakfast and after school clubs catered to students with special educational needs. We’re so happy to see our pupils and staff enjoy the new hall!”
Barratt London’s Community Fund scheme was set up to offer support to local charities and organisations, contributing towards helping communities close to its developments continue to thrive and grow. The scheme allows the developer to donate £1,500 each month to a charity or organisation working to improve the quality of life for those living in the local area.
Joseph Antoniazzi, Sales & Marketing Director for Barratt West London added: “West Wimbledon Primary School is doing an excellent job at fostering a community focused centre where local children can learn and excel academically, socially and personally. With the many events, lessons and extracurricular activities the school hall holds, we hope this donation will help towards their efforts to support and engage with local children, students and families, and leave a lasting legacy for the next generation of students to come.”
Prices at Sterling Place in New Malden start from £398,000 for a one-bedroom home.
