Local schools decorate community Christmas tree at Hendon Waterside

Two local schools are helping Barratt London get ready for the festive season by decorating the community Christmas tree at its Hendon Waterside development. Oakbridge Special Education and Parkfield Primary School are both located only a few miles from the homes at Hendon Waterside, NW9, where Barratt London is building a selection of one two- and three-bedroom homes.

Oakbridge Special Education is a special Post-16 Institution managed by Barnet Special Education Trust, offering personalised placements for young adults aged 18-24 with complex learning difficulties.

Rachel O’ Donnell, Teacher at Oakbridge Special Education comments: “We are so excited that the students have been able to get involved with decorating the tree at Hendon Waterside this year. Barratt London has done a great job engaging with the college and ensuring local students can feel a part of some fantastic projects like the community Christmas tree, and the recent work experience they organised with some of our staff and students! Students always look forward to attending the site for weekly work experience sessions, and we’re so proud to be a part of this fantastic partnership.”

Parkfield Primary School teaches students aged two-11 in the West Hendon area, and is part of The Elliot Foundation Academies Trust, an organisation supporting children through education, and providing them with the knowledge and skills necessary to help them thrive and learn.

Leila Harris, Senior Leader at Parkfield Primary School adds: “We are delighted to be able to decorate the community Christmas tree. This year, as a school, we have been focusing on the importance of recycling and reusing, and we used this idea as inspiration to utilise reclaimed materials to create our tree trinkets. The children had some really ingenious ideas about how we could reuse and recycle everyday items which would otherwise have been in the rubbish and sent to landfill. We really appreciate and enjoy working with Barratt London and look forward to engaging in more of the community projects in the future.”

Joseph Antoniazzi, Director of Sales and Marketing at Barratt West London, said: “The trees at the development have certainly been brought to life by Parkfield Primary School and Oakbridge Special Education, and we appreciate all the hard work they put into helping us bring some extra festive cheer to Hendon Waterside. As we build homes in Hendon, it’s important that we build ties with the local area, and it’s great to see so many students and staff get involved, particularly during the holiday season when community spirit is at an all-time high.”

Hendon Waterside by Barratt London is a collection of one two- and three-bedroom homes set along the Welsh Harp Reservoir, surrounded by 170 hectares of green space.

The homes also feature on site amenities such as a Co-op, Starbucks and dental clinic, whilst being well-connected to Central London, reaching St Pancras in just 16 minutes and Camden Town in 14 minutes from Hendon Central Station, giving buyers the best of both picturesque nature and the bustling city.
