Audiologists raise funds for tinnitus charity with successful bake sale
Staff at a local audiologists put their baking skills to the test this week by hosting a successful cake sale in support of Tinnitus UK.
The team at Specsavers Purley welcomed members of the community on 5 February for a sweet treat and a chance to raise vital funds for the charity. Thanks to the generosity of attendees, the event raised around £150 to support those living with tinnitus.
The bake sale, which took place during Tinnitus Awareness Week (3-9 February), kicked off at 10am in the store, located at 943 Brighton Road.
Throughout the event, guests enjoyed a delicious selection of 70 homemade cupcakes and banana bread, all prepared by the dedicated team.
All proceeds from the sale have been donated to Tinnitus UK, a charity that provides free support to individuals affected by tinnitus and their carers while also funding research into the condition.
Tinnitus affects approximately one in seven adults in the UK[1] and can cause persistent ringing, buzzing or hissing sounds, significantly impacting quality of life.
‘We’re delighted with the support we received from the community for such an important cause,’ says Charlotte Paterson, audiologist at Specsavers Purley.
‘It was fantastic to see so many people come together, enjoy some delicious treats and contribute to raising awareness of tinnitus. Every donation will go a long way in helping those affected and we couldn’t be more grateful.’
