Fundraising fun for hearing charity in special World Hearing Day event
ELTHAM opticians and audiologists marked World Hearing Day (March 3rd) this week with a special community event aimed at raising awareness of hearing health and supporting the vital work of Hearing Dogs for Deaf People.
The Specsavers Eltham team welcomed residents for a day filled with giveaways, informational leaflets and sweet treats, including delicious ear-shaped cookies, all while raising funds for the charity.
Thanks to the generosity of attendees, the event helped to raise £212, with all proceeds going directly to Hearing Dogs for Deaf People.
The charity trains specially skilled dogs to assist individuals with hearing loss by alerting them to important sounds, as well as providing companionship and emotional support.[1]
To show their support, the Specsavers Eltham team dressed in hearing-awareness t-shirts and badges and a donation box was placed at the till to encourage further contributions.
World Hearing Day, held annually by the World Health Organization, highlights the importance of preventing hearing loss and improving global hearing care.[2]
‘We’re delighted with the incredible support we received from the community for such an important cause,’ says Gina Gologan, Audiology Director at Specsavers Eltham.
‘It was fantastic to see so many people come together, enjoy some delicious treats and contribute to raising awareness of hearing health. Every donation will make a real difference in the lives of those affected, and we couldn’t be more grateful.’
Specsavers Eltham’s specialist audiology team offers a range of hearing services, including hearing tests, hearing aid sales, wax removal, hearing protection and repairs. They are also available to provide general guidance and support to the community on hearing health.
