Royal Observatory Greenwich and Camden Watch Company team to celebrate 350 years of the Royal Observatory
Having formed a partnership with The Royal Museums Greenwich in 2022, British independent brand The Camden Watch Company (founded by wife & husband team Anneke Short & Jerome Robert) has teamed up with them again and created The Camden Watch Company No.27 Moonphase Edition — a tribute to the Victorians’ fascination with the night sky — a love letter to their endless curiosity about the cosmos. And to celebrate The Royal Observatory Greenwich’s 350th anniversary taking place this year.
Key dates
22 June 1675 – Charles II establishes Royal Observatory
10 August 1675 – Foundation stone is laid on the site of Greenwich Castle
The shimmering dial mirrors the stars scattered across the midnight sky, while the moonphase function accurately tracks the lunar cycle, reflecting the moon’s changing shape as it moves through its phases. Above the moonphase opening section are the words Royal Observatory Greenwich. This striking unisex timepiece comes in either a stainless steel case or a black ion-plated stainless steel case. There are eight variations, listed below, and features either a leather strap or a stainless mesh strap.
Anneke Short, Co-Founder and Designer of The Camden Watch Company says: “We’re so happy with this watch, the moonphase is such a poetic complication, and it is a great addition to the Camden family.”
