Join Green Business Action in Celebrating a Greener and More Energy Efficient London as 1,000 Businesses Milestone Achieved

Small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) across the capital are invited to a free March event that will help them share in London’s environmental sustainability success story. With a keynote from Mete Coban MBE, Deputy Mayor of London for Environment and Energy, the event will celebrate the milestone of 1,000 businesses being supported by Green Business Action across the capital since 2021 and the initiative’s registration as a charity.

Green Business Action is hosting the in-person networking event for businesses that want to become beacons of environmental sustainability. Taking place from 6pm on Wednesday 19th March at Hackney Town Hall, the event will shine a light on organisations leading the way in adopting sustainable practices.

Mete Coban’s keynote will share London’s vision for becoming a global leader in urban sustainability. Throughout the event, business guests will also have the opportunity to connect with a wide range of organisations and professionals at the forefront of the city’s transition to renewable energy and carbon reduction.

To celebrate what has already been achieved and memorialise this green future vision, a spoken word video from Miss Yankey and Brackish Productions will be debuted at the event.

West London Business Award-winning company VMI has recently worked with Green Business Action to help improve the TV company’s sustainability practices. Managing Director of VMI, Barry Bassett, is passionate about London being recognised as a global leader in environmental sustainability, and encourages SMEs short on time but big on green ambitions to attend: “Adopting green practices can be a daunting process, so it is great that GBA is arranging this event to help companies who wish to join this journey. If you want to decarbonise your practices and don’t know where to begin, then do attend this free event.”

Green Business Action (GBA) is a non-profit initiative funded by the Mayor of London, Hackney Council and Tower Hamlets Council, and helps micro, small and medium-sized London businesses succeed in their journey to Net Zero. GBA has just secured charitable status as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (registration number: 1212522), enabling it to diversify its funding base and grow its impact. GBA provides expert knowledge at no cost to micro, small and medium-sized businesses, and helps them create a clear pathway to long-term sustainability which is good for the economy and great for our planet. Through the efforts of GBA and London businesses and partners such as the Greater London Authority, Imperial College London and Sustainable Ventures, the capital has become a global beacon of sustainable business.

Green Business Action has already helped 1,000 London businesses get greener, and by March 2030 Green Business Action is seeking to support 10,000 London businesses.
