London hair clinic supports Alopecia UK with fundraising effort

On the 24th of August, The
Treatment Rooms London will be taking part in the Regent’s Park 5km Run as part of their ongoing support for Alopecia UK, a dedicated charity for individuals affected by all forms of hair loss. With a fundraising
goal of £5,000, the hair clinic will help the charity to continue its vital work across supporting people with alopecia, raising awareness for the condition, and increasing funding for research.

Having first been established in 2004, Alopecia UK centres their work around community building, empowering choice, and advocating for change. This aligns with the Treatment Rooms’ mission of supporting individuals with hair loss and helping them reclaim their
confidence. Whilst most of their patients undergo surgery, the clinic realises this isn’t an appropriate treatment for everyone, and instead aims to provide support for those affected by any type of hair loss, including encouraging patients to embrace their
condition.

Alopecia UK receives no government or statutory funding, and so it relies on individual fundraisers to continue its work. Support from organisations like Treatment Rooms London is vital for championing future research and current awareness, giving alopecia
patients the space to embrace their unique beauty without fear or shame. Understanding how alopecia is managed both medically and psychologically helps to reduce stigma, ensuring the condition doesn’t unfairly impact careers, confidence, or social wellbeing.

Dr Puroshini Pather, Hair Transplant Surgeon at The Treatment Rooms London, said, “at our clinic, we see how stressful hair loss can be, to the point where even looking in the mirror becomes overwhelming. We want to stand alongside those with hair loss to ensure
a higher quality of living, as well as support their personal choice in managing its effects – whether that’s through treatment, concealment, or acceptance.”

Treatment Rooms London Co-Founder, Dr Dilan Fernando, said, “we work closely with patients navigating hair loss, and recognise it’s not about their treatment – it’s about having the support to make informed choices about their healthcare. Taking part in the
run gives us the opportunity to advocate for greater awareness and support for those living with alopecia, recognising it’s not a one-size-fits-all condition.”

Treatment Rooms London Co-Founder, Dr Roshan Vara, said, “Although I’m not a runner by nature, taking on this 5K has been a meaningful way for my team and me to show our support and raise awareness for those living with alopecia.”

The run also reflects the clinic’s wider mission to empower individuals through education around hair health, and to advocate for patient-centred care. For anyone wishing to support this cause, they can sponsor the Treatment
Rooms London team here.
