Nature-themed skate trail through Burgess Park this July

Experienced and first-time roller skaters are invited to lace up their skates and bring the family along to Roll ’n Stroll, a nature-themed skate trail through Burgess Park on Saturday 26th July.

Roll n Stroll is all about celebrating movement and nature, specifically designed to support pregnant, postpartum skaters, and rollerskating families, and all who love life on wheels.

Organised by CeCe, a roller skate coach, Roll n Stroll kicks off at Cobourg Road Nature Area with forest school fun led by 1st Place Family Hub at 10.15am followed by a community Litter Pick in partnership with Friends of Burgess Park (FOBP), a local group dedicated to preserving this treasured green space.

Skaters will then roll through Burgess Park on a scenic green trail, stopping off at hidden gems like the World Garden and Glengall Wharf Garden, where families can explore, forage for wildflowers, and enjoy the calm of the Surrey Canal Walk.

The trail ends near Mountview Drama School and Peckham Library, where everyone is invited to Dene Community Centre for a relaxed afternoon of family-friendly activities, chill time, and community connection.

Also available on the day is face paints by Yara Face & Body Art; yoga by Jo, offering breathwork, posture, relaxation, and meditation; Air Pollution Awareness activities and education with the Awair Project; and opportunities for wildflower foraging and forest school adventures.

“This is a day to move, breathe, and connect. We’re creating space for skaters of all stages and ages, especially new parents, to celebrate their bodies and the beauty of urban nature. All wheels are welcome—skates, scooters, prams, and strollers alike. Whether you’re rolling solo or as a family, this day promises a joyful, eco-friendly day out for all ages,” said CeCe.

Roll n Stroll is also about raising awareness around the air pollution in Southwark and Lambeth that remains alarmingly high, especially amongst Black and ethnic minority communities, who are often exposed to the worst conditions.

Roll n Stroll is part of Live + Breathe, a summer-long campaign dedicated to tackling air pollution in South London. Founded in 2022 by musician and activist Love Ssega, Live + Breathe is now a registered CIC (Community Interest Company) with a bold vision: to empower communities to breathe clean, safe air—especially those who have been historically overlooked.
